A life coach?

“A life coach” is such a new term that it creates quite a bit of confusion in those who aren’t familiar with it. To put it in simple terms, think of it as “what I do” rather than a qualification. In fact, it’s not a qualification, it cannot be, because there is no schooling for life coaching anywhere in the world. You can take courses in life coaching, and certified life coach doesn’t mean much more than certified window cleaner. It just means you’ve got some idea of what you’re doing, but you haven’t really had to prove your worthiness.

The reason why life coaching is such a usable term, is that it really sums up a big lump of stuff that previously didn’t have a description. Take me for example. I know a lot of stuff about a lot of stuff. Most of this stuff relates to living life, simply put. My knowledge base is far more wide than simply SEO expert or writer. On the other hand, I might not know everything there is to know about SEO or writing, but I know enough to successfully help out the average Joe in it. A life coach doesn’t have to be an expert in anything, not even life, but she or  he needs to know how to find out!  Most of the time, you will be the expert, and the life coach will be the person who helps you to draw a map to the treasure that is you.

There’s also several different types of life coaches out there, most often they deal with business life coaching. I am a personal life coach – I deal with personal goals, finding happiness and your true self. Life coaching to me is such a great way to share what I know and have already internalized and would like to make proper use of, which is why I became a certified life coach.
